get wardrobe in here

why can't one single piece of "coalition" propaganda be right? Now it turns out the iraqis have good clothes. "The Iraqi army seems to be better clothed than we are. We are supposed to look like professional soldiers, but we don't. I look like a tramp."

I feel this renders problematic what Arthur Carter (yes, that one) once said to us kids at The Nation: "Dress British, think Yiddish."

The Onion's list of New Military Technology contains, among other hilarious entries, the "Hummer reconfigured for military use." Which is even funnier when you read this Top Secret memo to Iraq posted on al-Qaida's website, basically a playbook on How to Beat the Americans, written by Saif Al-Adel, security chief for Osama Bin Laden:

"al-Qaida’s secret weapon was not the ever present pickup truck, but a Toyota Corolla — a passenger car — filled with bombs and shoulder-fired missiles.
“The enemy did not notice we were using them, and most were not directly targeted,” Al-Adel claims. "
