"Fruit from the new Meat Trees, developed by British scientists using gene-splicing technology, closely resembles ordinary grapefruit. But when you peel the large fruit open, inside is fresh beef."
This only confirms my suspicion that most vegetarians abhor meat because they imagine they can hear the screams of the animal it comes from, but really, deep down, they are zeta-jonesing for a bacon cheeseburger.

your vegetarian comment reminds me of the "tales from the darkside" where an overweight woman receives a package containing an ear piece and a pair of glasses that will help her diet so she can 'hear' and 'see' her food. needless to say, the scene where she peels the banana is a classic.
I don't know if I saw that episode, but I used to love that show! With writers Clive Barker, Stephen King, and Harlan Ellison, there were always moments of brilliance amidst the standard B-grade archaeologist ignores mummy's curse and pays for it, like the one where archaeologist discovers mummy and mummy challenges archaeologist to a game of strip poker.
or the one where the elderly cannibal couple cooks up travelers in their hot tub.
anyway, here's an episode guide for TotD as well as its red-headded stepchild, monsters.
Meat Tree?! Yeah right? That rumor was disproven by CNN!
