three weeks ahead of the curve

NY Post's puffy piece on the ipod, with the rumor of a DJ-specific ipod. tmonkey, phrisky, and I were weeks ahead of the Post on this...

I was actually thinking about this the other day: what if iPods were wireless, so that when you went out or all got in the same room/club, you could access the music of all the iPods in range around you? So if you were in a club, the DJ would be have the collected catalogs of all the iPods in the room to choose from. That would be great in the subways, where I think there is at least one passenger per car with iPod headphones on.

I've actually been playing with this: the iNet Stream Archiver, which allows you to record shoutcast streams as mp3 files. It even separates the stream into files with the right track names, so it's like getting free singles. Basically makes up for the iPod not having a FM radio receiver on it.

let me know when you work out the DRM issues on that one...

I'll leave the DRM issues to Steve Jobs.

Oh, and btw, the first album I downloaded at the Apple music store was the 50 cent album for $9.99.
