Light after all? Hoover was pretty much loathed by the end of his term--for his bad foreign policy AND his stupidity about domestic poverty. They called those early Depression-era cardboard housing clusters "Hoovervilles."

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the first signs of a "Shrubyatown". Which reminds me, the 2004 GOP convention is in NYC, the nation's safest, most conservative-friendly town.

(I'm ready to get arrested in 2004. Anyone else?)
