I was in the mountains for a few days and way out of touch with politics, and I've found it difficult to get back in touch. Tonight, though, I was reading former-Reagan-official Paul Roberts's review of a new book on American militarism and was reminded of exactly why this war feels so bad, or exactly one of the reasons. Roberts writes, "The new American militarism has abandoned the Founding Fathers, deserted the Constitution, and unrestrained the executive. War is a first resort. Militarism is inconsistent with globalism and with American ideals. It will end in abject failure." His other words are worth reading, too. (via Corrente)
